Open Day

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Congratulations to all involved in today's open day. It was super fun and well worth doing.

Thanks especially to the fellas who were content to ride so slowly with a total novice little girl. She had a ball and was so pleased with how she was going by the end of the morning. She now wants gloves and her own camelpack and a bike with gears and...and...and... I may never be allowed to ride on my own again! *sigh* Smiling

Thank you to our wonderful track maintainers. It's looking lovely out there, all ready for the Open Day on Saturday. Now if you could just do something about all the spider webs at face height...

This was our (me and my gf Rach) first ever ride at Awaba and our first go at the Spring Fat Tyre. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and loved the track, the people and the organisation, we'll def be back for more! Some highlights include:

- only 1 stack each and nothing major. mine resulting in a bent rear brake rotor (which the CBD guys fixed in a jiffy) and Rach's in some scrapes and bruises (but they didn't start hurting until the day after!)

Great day Indeed, all ran smoothly for our team a few minor transition hicups and an off for me on my second lap but still managed 36.55 being my slowest lap and my fastest a 36.25,pretty pleased all my laps were within 30 secs of each other. Smiling
Thanks to Brian and Tien for being great team mates and thanks to Brians folks for the hospitality.overall a terrific day with some great riding on
what I consider the best XC track in NSW, can't wait for more.
Well done to all the mobers who competed and especially the junior winners awesome effort.

Never ridden Awaba before and will definately be going back there. What a sweet sweet piece of track and a great venue for a long day of racing. This was my first solo event and I was a tad nervous as I clicked in and made my way down the fire road to the start of the single track. I started near the back of the pack and was happy to cruise the first lap following a long train of riders. No need to panic ... I've got 8 more hours of this ! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as I made my way around the track.

Fat Tyre Fest Fun

I entered the Spring Fat Tyre Festival in a team of 3 with Craig (craked) and Tien (tienster). This was my second team event and the first time with 3. The plan was to head up Saturday to register and do final lap before Sunday. I picked up Tien and we arrived at the track at about 3pm to find Craig had already set up a gazebo reserving a spot nice and close to the transition area. We registered (no queuing for us), got our bikes ready and had a nice cruisy lap.
