For the record you do not have to have competed in any other state rounds to qualify to race in the Champs.

That idea was discussed several years ago but never implemented.

As with all state DH races now the only requirement is that you are a full MTBA member.

What's the deal with different age groups and categories?

Dexter

Flynny's picture

What do you mean? It has the same age groups and categories as normal check the out here

dexman's picture

oh k cool... typically, how many are to an age group? Take the U15 for example.

Flynny's picture

u15 been getting about 40. U17m\\ 70 and then it tapers off to about 20-40 per group

Cool, thanks. Last question, I realise that it is state champs but what are the riders like and what would you say the overall standard is? advanced or?..... That and why is it that when I go to pay for registration it tells me to pay for a day license when I'm a full member?...

Flynny's picture

It is state champs. Every one has to be a full MTBA member so ideally they are experienced racers.

As for why it's asking you for a day license. Is your current license up to date and have you entered you rider number correctly?

dexman's picture

what is and where do you get the rider number from because i didn't get one when I registered. I haven't completely finished my rego yet because i don't want to pay for a day license when there aren't any day license riders allowed. I also renewed my membership two nights ago. I used the registration link from MTBA.com and I ticked the "I am a MTBA member box" and still it tells me to pay $15 for a day license... Any advice?

Flynny's picture

Rider number is the MTBA number which will stay the same if you have renewed. I haven't done the on line renewal so I'm not sure how long it takes to process

Best bet is to contact Tony at info@mtba.asn.au

Hey I have been trying to rego this week and it says my MTBA number 573 (its is valid till Dec) is not valid............. It did this for the AWABA race earlyer in the year as well and it did not work and now entries are closed again what do I do?

Flynny's picture

Moshy as long as you put in your name it will be in the system bounce me an email with your details just in case and then bring cash to the rego desk

Are the trails closed on friday . If not, is it possible for me to get a few practice runs in or no?... Also, do you know what the order of races is?... Thanks heaps for all your help.

Flynny's picture

Sorry dex only just saw your post. You probably worked out 95%of the track was open today.

Once castec get there and set up Sunday they print out expected start times for each rider. From memory it's usually Eilte and U19 qualifying then youngest to eldest

dexman's picture

why is it that the rego website says the race is today and tomorrow? Also, i don't suppose there would be and time for a practice run before the races start or something...

Flynny's picture

As it says here http://nswmtb.asn.au/node/12912

* State DH races are held over 2 days. Saturday is set aside for practice. Sunday has a compulsory practice session where each rider must complete at least 1 run then generally there is a short break before racing begins.

Alex Morgan has already posted a bunch of photos from todays practice.

Hey all big thanks to everyone especially our marshals who spent a long cold day on t he hill just so we can ride bikes

Also to those who helped carry possum up the hill at the end of the day

Myself bob and bevear have only just got off the hill after retrieving cables so results are going to be a little later than normal. Check back tomorrow

Bob is having dramas with getting things up on http://www.onlineresults.com.au/.
