Ok folks, here’s the details on the February club race.

Since we’re enjoying the short loop so much, and the timekeeper’s have had it easy the last few races, here’s the plan. You can enter as an individual or enter as a team of 2 or 3 to see how many laps you can get out in 90 minutes. Those riders who want a format that is more like a cross country race will enjoy this just as much as those who don’t think they can ride for 90 minutes and want to share the load with one or two others.

Hopefully we will have some new race timing software that we will be trying out for this race so we will have individual lap times for individuals and team riders. This should be a good format if it’s a hot day because you will be able to leave your drinks at the transition area to collect on the way through every 15 minutes so you should be able to keep well hydrated.

Remember that we give recognition to the faster riders but randomly give prizes away for all entrants.

We’ll have a few drinks afterwards so bring a few dollars for a post-race get together and awards.

As always thanks goes to Bourke’s Bicycles Taree, Hogs Breath Café Forster, Manning Valley Free Range Eggs, Mackie Electrics, and Bruce Pain - RFS for their continued assistance in holding these races.

YOU WILL NEED TO BE REGISTERED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT BY 3:30PM!!!!

IMPORTANT INFO

  • If you are not a full MTBA club member you will be required to pay a $20 day license to participate. This is to cover insurance costs that we must pay MTBA

CHANGED DIRECTIONS TO TRACK:

  • Due to recent rain the original entry, through Purfleet, to Lantana Crossing cannot be accessed.
  • Entry to Lantana Crossing is now at the left turn approx. 1km after the Tip entrance (our normal ride meeting point).
  • Follow Lantana Crossing for approx. 1km and park on the grass OFF Lantana Crossing as this road forms part of the race loop.
  • Race stewards will direct you to parking. There is plenty of car parking!
  • You will exit after the race in the same way. PLEASE be aware that the exit from Lantana Crossing back onto the Bucketts Way needs extreme caution due to traffic visibility.

Kiwarrak State Forest: 11th Feb Race!

Hey groovers,

Can anyone please tell me if the 11th Feb race at Kiwarrack has a kids loop? I'm coming up from Sydney to take my nephew (9 yrs old) who lives in Tuncurry, to this race!

He's not ridden a race before so don't want to freak him out by going straight into an (adult) race format. Alternatively, I enter he and I as a team, and he comes out with me on a lap, though only counting the 1 lap?

I could be well wrong, and he'll go out on a lap on his own without batting an eyelid - but need the plan B option incase he spits it!

Thanks and Hi, I'm a noobie to this list!

Cheers, sMarti (Martina)

Hi Martina, We do have a

Hi Martina,

We do have a small kids loop. We run a small race for the kids if there's enough there. I'm happy for him to ride with you for a lap and see how he goes. The loop actually comes back to the transition area after only about 2km's so if he's had enough by then he can bail out there. Where pretty flexible and the main thing we want is for people to have a go, so if he's keen we're happy for him to ride.
