Elvina Track
At a Glance
Short but very steep.
There is a carpark at the top of this track on West Head Road.
Similar to Towlers Bay but shorter and steeper, this ride is probably not worth a look unless you are into insane climbs or have a few more Km in you after hitting something else along West Head Road.
Having said that, from the road fun can be had on the water bars before the descent real kicks in, although take care not to be thrown into the bush by large sand patches that abound.
The carpark by West Head Road is at almost 170m altitude and the track goes down to the very edge of Pittwater in about 2Km. Sounds steep until you realise there is a 700m section in there that's doing most of that rise!
| Title | Distance | Vertical Climb | Vertical Drop | Summary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Waratah and Elvina Out and Back. | 14Km | 320m | 320m |
An out and back ride either side of West Head road. Elvina has a killer climb from the water whereas Waratah has nice views to enjoy at the end. Stop by the aboriginal carvings at the top of Elvina or jump in the water off the wharf at the bottom to cool off. http://www.atnf.csiro.au/people/rnorris/SydneyRockArt/sites/Elvina/index... |
| Waratah + Elvina Tracks | 15.29Km | 488m | 488m |
Two out and backs combined. Climb out of Elvina is a killer. |
